Every year, students and adult consumers take part in an annual event we like to refer to as VBA Idols. The show features a variety of talent ranging from singing and dancing to verbal presentations, All who participate are also given an opportunity to showcase their talent in the community. the annual event’s popularity has resulted in the creation of a small choir that expands periodically, and travels into the community to perform for interested groups, senior centers and for other interested citizens as well.
As part of my normal routine, I act as M/C for most of these performances. I enjoy such opportunities as it presents me with an opportunity to also showcase my talents in the community just like the rest of the performers. I hope to perform for you soon or see you out and about.

Hey y’all!!! VBAS has a new mascot that is in the form of a mixed terrier that’s being trained to help certain students and individuals around the school. Mrs. Starla Andrews is providing care for the dog on a daily basis. We are all proud to have this wonderful addition, and the staff sure enjoys having her.
Right now, she is still in training, but she seems to be slowly getting to know her way around, and she loves being petted. Don’t worry, she’s been properly checked out. If you have an individual enrolled here that might be allergic to pet hair or pets themselves, please contact this facility and let our staff be aware.

If you look in some of the classrooms and offices and at the main entrance to the main building on this campus, you may have sworn you needed sunglasses just to walk in there. This is all part of an ongoing makeover to modernize the facility. This is just part of a project; the other part is the installation of new automatic doors and the possible replacement of some of the flooring. The BWT facility is also taking on a new look as well as receiving some much needed repair and upgrades with door repairs and a paint job. As some of you may have noticed, the parking lot was redone, and some more work is scheduled to begin soon on additional upgrades to the parking area.
We hope to have the work either nearly or completely done before our 40th anniversary party, which will take place on a date to be announced soon. A special committee has been formed to plan and oversee such activity. Stay tuned to this website for more details.
PS!!! HOPE YOU LIKE THE NEW LOOK!!!

As most are already aware, over 200 people lost their lives and another 2000 or so were injured on April 27th 2011. A string of deadly twisters tore through the north central part of the state. Entire communities and infrastructures were destroyed.
As part of the response on our part, at least two staff members have taken on a mission to provide essential supplies and basic materials for children and adults that were left homeless because of the storms. A list was provided with information recently sent home with students and adult individuals. If you would like more information on how you can assist with this effort, please feel free to give us a shout here at the school.
Below is a list of needed items you can send to the school by May 25th:
All baby including formula, diapers, baby wipes, and bottles (etc.)
Work gloves
Trash bags
All nonperishable items including food items, please be sure they have pop top opening
Can openers
Bug spray
All paper products
NOTE: Any work or yard tools donated need to be brought to the Dale County bus barn located on AL HWY 27 in order to avoid prohibitive transportation on a bus or being held on school grounds.
