“With Two Weeks of Suess, You Really Can’t Miss…. We like it so much we did it like this…”

At VBAS, we love Dr. Suess !!!

This past week we prepared for Read Across America by enjoying a book read to our school age students by some of our adults.

This week brings visitors from our community to read !!

A member of our VBAS Family, LaKecia Frazier, has been honored by Carroll High School as a Local Hero !!

As our Transportation Supervisor, she is our hero everyday as she assures our individuals travel safely !!

LaKecia, a graduate of Zion Chapel High School, also received degrees from Enterprise State Junior College, Central Texas College and Enterprise/Ozark Community College.

She is a United States Army Veteran, SGT (E-5), having served from 1995-2003.  Her military service assignments included Camp Casey, Korea, Ft. Hood, Texas, Ft. Carson, Colorado, and Ft. Richardson, Alaska.

Currently she is Youth Director at White Water Missionary Baptist Church in Troy.  LaKecia works with several outreach ministries and is president of the Carroll High School Girl’s Basketball Booster Club.

LaKecia was recognized as a Local Hero thanks to her valuable contributions to the African-American Culture.  She attributes her success to values she “learned from her parents as she watched them work hard and to a softball coach who taught her that hard work and pushing for greatness will truly pay off”.

Her advice to today’s young people:

“Never let someone’s “No” determine your destiny;  remember that you were fearfully and wonderfully made and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.”

From your Family at VBAS…LaKecia we salute you !!!
