Vivian B. Adams School Has HeArt

Using the expertise of local talent, volunteers and staff, Adams School now has HeArt !

HeArt is a specially designed art program giving our special needs individuals an opportunity to help encourage artistic expression to reinforce and transform their lives as they share their hidden talents with the help of the staff, their families and the community.

Last fall, Lauren Hart with Center Stage Dance Studio in Enterprise implemented the performing arts component of the HeArt program with an on campus dance class for individuals. Thanks to a grant from the Southeast Alabama Community Foundation, we have added a sound system to our media room, developed a dance curriculum for special needs individuals and purchased items to enhance the performing arts program offerings.

In September, Jane Dodson, Beth Grantham, and Kim Whaley , local citizens involved with the arts, met to brainstorm ideas and methods for initiating a visual arts curriculum. As a result of their ideas and efforts, VBAS will begin a visual arts program for our individuals in November. We are excited about the program and the opportunity for our individuals to express themselves through art media as well as build their personal satisfaction and self-confidence!

It is our goal to display and sell some of our art projects at the 2016 Holiday Bazaar.
