It is exciting in our “backyard” at VBAS !!!

Thanks to the Pea River Electric Cooperative we have a long term, low interest loan that covers 1/2 of the cost of our new pool and screen enclosure.

Just as the title of this post says, we are halfway there, both in project progress and in project funding. We are diligently working to secure funding to complete our project.

During March, we are celebrating Development Disabilities Awareness Month.  This is an opportunity promote respect for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and increase awareness of the daily obstacles faced by these individuals and their families. We would like to celebrate those individuals within our church and community with disabilities by recognizing that they are a gift from God and their presence enriches all of our lives.  Our church is celebrating and commemorating the lives of people with disabilities during our three worship services on Sunday, March 23.

The Billy Gaither Special Needs Sunday School class was started over 16 years ago to meet the needs of the special individuals within our community.  We would like to recognize the effort of our teachers who give of their time, talents, and love to the individuals in this class.  Currently we have 5 teaching teams: Judy Mobley and Susan Wright, Pat and Jack Jackson, Mandi Sneed and Sylvia Bowman, Kay and Brad Nicholas, Anita Garrett and Beverly Raley, Debra Tew, Kathy and Randy Martin. We also have four pianists sharing their talents:  Lonnell Matthews, Rachel Hood, Martha Dan Thompson, and Kathy Martin.  Rev. John Weeks brings Communion the first Sunday of each month to the students and teachers.  This class would not be the success it is without the effort of all these people and others who generously give of their time to support the class.

National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month strengthens our commitment to provide opportunity and growth for people with disabilities and gives us a chance to reach out to others. Please join us in celebrating people with disabilities and the many contributions they make in our community.
